There is very little [new] hip hop that I get excited about these days. Which is unfortunate because of my love for the genre. But one group of producers, the Jazz Spastiks, get me pumped up every single time they release something new. And it’s always really really good. I thought it was only right to dedicate a Chill Mode mix to their music, since it’s so laid back.
Lots going on here in the Press Record studios, but unfortunately most of it doesn’t have to do with music. I was able to peel myself away from my hectic life to get some quality music time. I was able to wrangle up a few new tracks and throw a mix together. I think it turned out pretty funky.
Had the pleasure of having OneDeep join me in the home studio this past weekend for another live session. We did a two our jam session, rotating every two tracks. I think it turned out very well, minus one small technical hiccup. But check it out… tracklisting is below.

This mix was hour 2 of a session I had in the PR studio last night. I started off with a slower bpm mix. Towards the end of that first hour, I was playing a track that I really liked, and that wanted to hear at a faster pace, which lead to this mix. It’s funky as usual, and has both some old and new tracks.
I’ll upload the other mix shortly as well in a separate podcast.
There have been some really good new releases on Traxsource lately, so I took advantage of them and bought myself lots of new tracks. This mix felt pretty damn good, and as usually, it’s funky through and through.
I’m going to start going with another format for this site and just embedding the SoundCloud tracks here in the blog post. It will still be available through the iTunes podcast though if you’re a subscriber.
I had been thinking of doing a hip hop mix for weeks, if not months. So much good hip hop has come out this year. And I’ve put some of those favorite in this mix. It felt extremely good going through the tracks in this mix. There’s a couple rough patches here and there, but overall I really like the vibe and track selection. I especially love the ending track from People Under the Stairs, which came from their new album.
Hey peeps. After finally pulling the trigger on a batch of new tracks, it was my kick in the the ass to down to the Press Record studio and record another mix. I like the way this one turned out. Very funky all the way through.
I have a bunch of ideas for new mixes, including another long overdue hip hop mix. So those will be headed to the site in the near future.
I was able to peel myself away from my couch and the madness of college basketball to hit the studio and lay down a few new tracks that I recently bought. I got ahold of some gems and this was a very fun mix to put together. It should have you moving the whole way through.
