Hump Day Bumps Show #1

House

Last week I was extremely pumped to start this new show. Then the power went out. My first thought was “I won’t be able to do the show”. True story. So now that brings us to this week, and anticipation even higher, and gladly…I had power. It started off a little rough with a technical difficultly and me having to restart Serato Itch during the show, but luckily it was quick. That threw me off for a second, but I took it in stride and powered through.

I think the turnout for the first show was great. I knew I was going to go longer than 2 hours, but I wasn’t expecting 3.5 hours. And I could have gone longer! I had a blast and I’m already looking forward to next week. Below is the video from the show, and the audio too.

I don’t think I’ll be posting every single weekly show here on the blog, but I am thinking on solutions for a show archive page. I’m open for suggestions.

Introducing Press Record Radio

info

For at least the past year, I’ve been wanting to do a live weekly show. It was a direction that I’ve wanted to go since I started this site. At random times I’d do live broadcasts, but it wasn’t regularly. I want to change that now. Earlier this week I test drove a video format (skip to 4:00 for sound), and decided it was time to get this going.

I’m introducing Press Record Radio. It’s going to be a weekly show on Wednesday nights, starting roughly at 8 p.m. EST. My plan right now is to have two different shows: The Hump Day Bumps Show for house music, and a hip hop show that I’ve yet to name. I plan on doing the hip hop show every third show, roughly. I’m still working out the details on that one.

Starting off, the show will be about 2 hours of music, and it will be a live video stream powered by Ustream (until I find a better service). I will also have a chatroom on the page so that people can chat and interact with me, and I plan on being active in the room while the show is going on.

So where do you go for this show? Right here to start off. The stream and chatroom are already there, so you just have to hit that page on Wednesday night. I might even make that page the homepage of this site, to make it even easier. I’ve also setup a landing page for the Press Record Radio where I’ll add the new show when it’s ready.

I’m in discussions with a few different DJ’s to have them on as guests, because it’s something that I’d like to do, especially come October when my wife and I have our first kid. I really wish I had started this earlier than 3 months before my schedule will forever change. But I’m going to make it work!

I’m beyond excited to do this, so I hope it’s fun for all, and I hope people interact and enjoy the show. Of course I’m always open for ideas and suggestions. So tune in Wednesday, July 18th July 25th at 8 p.m. EST for the first show. Hope to see you there!

Don’t Sweat the Heat

House

There’s been a lot going on this summer, and while the wife and I prep the house for the arrival of a mini-me, I’ve had to rethink my music setup since my office is going away. I did some Googling to get ideas for a new setup in my basement, and found a great idea. I wasted no time to get that all setup, as you see below.

Being able to stand up and have the speakers at ear level is amazing. I wish I had done this years ago. So of course I made a nice lengthy house mix to celebrate this new accomplishment. It’s about an hour and a half and nothing less than funky.

Enjoy!
