Chill Mode Mix Vol. 12: Fanspastik Edition Sep 11

There is very little [new] hip hop that I get excited about these days. Which is unfortunate because of my love for the genre. But one group of producers, the Jazz Spastiks, get me pumped up every single time they release something new. And it’s always really really good. I thought it was only right to dedicate a Chill Mode mix to their music, since it’s so laid back.

So enjoy the mix, then go buy all of their stuff.

Chill Mode Mix Vol. 11 Dec 6

Lately, I’ve been hearing some really good (both old and new) hip hop that’s pushed me to take a breather from the usual house music, and get back to the roots of the type of mixes that started this site, good old classic hip hop. So I’m adding an addition to the Chill Mode series. I think it turned out pretty damn good. I’ve already rocked to it a few times, and I think you’d dig it too if you’ve liked previous ones.

Chill Mode Mix Vol. 10 Jul 1

I can’t believe it’s been over a year since I’ve mixed up a Chill Mode session, but I’m glad we’re back with another one. While the studio is still in a flux, I was able to get a mini setup together and mix up these tunes. Like all the past ones, this is very chill, with some old stuff, new stuff, and middle aged stuff. Enjoyable the whole way through.

For the past few months I’ve been going through my oversized music library trying to purge my collection. For as fun as it was collecting tons of music over the last 10ish years, it’s a big pain in my ass managing that music when it comes to DJing. I don’t like doing them often because I really want to make sure the track selection reflects the title. It took me some time to get into a groove with this mix, so some of the transitions aren’t as crisp as I’d like. But it’s still good.

P.S. I have two tracks in this mix from Jazz Spastiks. One of the best groups I’ve heard in a while, and you should check out their album 12 Bit Spit. You will definitely be hearing more of their tracks in my mixes to come. They’re that good.

Chill Mode Mix: Necro Edition May 26

I know we’re hot off the heals of a Chill Mode Mix already, but I feel this needs to be posted. I’ve listened to it a bunch over the past few days, and no longer want to keep it to myself.

So, one of the ideas I had for this CMM series was producer editions. In other words, having the whole mix of all tracks from one producer. In this case, it’s Necro. His lyrics can be a lot to stomach. He invented death-rap, if that says anything. But if you’re like me, you listen to Necro because he’s an amazing producer. One of my favorites in fact. So you should definitely give this if you value great production. It’s all instrumentals (only one song with lyrics), and fits the CMM series well.

I will soon be having a weekly live broadcast where I mix some tunes, and possibly record to post here. I’ve been playing around with it the last few days, and have gotten a good response. So I will announce what day of the week that is going to be shortly, but feel free to tell me what days work for you.

This is the latest installment of the Chill Mode Mix series, which, from most of the comments I’ve heard about this site, seems to be the favorite. I have to say, that it’s fun making them too, and upon listening to this one more, I got a few ideas for how to mix up the series.

Chill Mode Mix Vol. 4 Mar 19

The fourth installment of the Chill Mode Mix series, which seems to be the ones that people like the most. It’s good background music while working. I’m thinking of doing some custom artwork for these, but not sure quite yet. I have a new project in the works, so I’m not sure how much time I’ll have, but we’ll see.

I’ve also added search up in the top right. Should come in handy when I add playlists, and when this site gets more populated.
